Are You an Apple, Pear or Hourglass Shape?

Everyone wants to be slim and toned. Women seek that desirable hourglass shape. Did you know that being a “pear” shape is better for health than an "apple" shape? How is your weight distributed? If it is above or at the belt level then you are “apple” shaped and “pear” shaped if below. Women tend to be “pear” shaped and men “apple” shaped. We inherit our natural physical shape and can improve it with nutritious well-balanced food intake, weight lifting and regular exercise.
Achieving healthy normal weight isn’t just about getting into a pair of well-fitting, cute favorite pair of jeans. Waist measurement is a better predictor of health status than BMI. Preserving a smaller waist size is important for maintaining normal blood sugar levels and optimal cardiovascular health. Healthy waist measurement is less than 35 inches (88 cm) for women and 40 inches (102 cm) for men.
Smoking and excess alcohol consumption may affect natural physical shape. Effortless weight reduction and spot slimming sound miraculous and wonderful but it is regular exercise combined with healthy daily calorie goals that can help achieve overall weight reduction and attain good health.
